Answers to your questions.

Clear answers to the questions I hear most, plus trusted resources. Don't see your question? Just ask.

Working with Delethia

Does it cost anything to work with you?

No. Consultations and plan comparisons are free. I'm paid by the insurance companies, so my help doesn't add to your cost.

Can we meet by phone or in person?

Yes. Choose whichever is most comfortable for you when you book your consultation.

What should I have ready for our appointment?

A list of your doctors and prescriptions, your current insurance cards (if any), and any questions you have.

Medicare

When should I sign up for Medicare?

Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7 months around your 65th birthday: 3 months before, your birthday month, and 3 months after. Signing up on time helps you avoid gaps and late penalties.

What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and a Supplement?

Medicare Advantage plans replace Original Medicare with an all-in-one plan from a private company. Supplement (Medigap) plans work alongside Original Medicare to help pay out-of-pocket costs. I'll help you compare both.

Can I change my plan?

Yes. During the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7) you can switch Medicare Advantage or Part D plans. Other changes may be possible during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31) or a Special Enrollment Period.

Extra Help (Low Income Subsidy)

How do I know if I qualify for Extra Help?

It depends on your income and resources, and the limits change each year. If you receive Medicaid, SSI or a Medicare Savings Program, you may qualify automatically. I can check for you at no cost.

Will you help me apply?

Yes. I'll walk you through the application and help you choose a drug plan once you're approved.

Life & Health Insurance

How much life insurance do I need?

It depends on your income, debts, mortgage, and what you want to leave behind. We'll work out a number together that fits your goals and budget.

Can I get health insurance outside of Open Enrollment?

Possibly. Life events like moving, losing coverage, marriage or a new baby can open a Special Enrollment Period.
